The DC-2 was a key twin-engine transport aircraft developed after TWA’s 1932 request for a new design. First flown in 1934, it had a longer fuselage and carried 14 passengers. About 200 were built for civilian and military use, including six made under license in Japan. The DC-2 flew with major airlines across the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia, improving air travel safety and efficiency before the DC-3.
