Italian electro-acoustic composers Giuseppe Ielasi and Nicola Ratti reconvene their unique Bellows collaborative project for their new album Strand on Shelter Press. Continuously drawing a hypnotic maze with albums on Boomkat Editions (BKEDIT 012LP, 2015), Entr'acte, and Ielasi's cult Senufo label, Bellows offers their first album on Shelter Press with Strand. Clocking right under 40 minutes, Strand is direct and disorienting. With eight tactile but distant untitled tracks, the album convokes a complex sound palette between acousmatic sound and fractal beats. Recorded in Milano at their very own Standard recording studio, Strand marks a shift in Bellows' previous recording process, bringing more music gear on the table: tapes, modular synthesizers, effects, and samples. Captured live over the course of four days of improvised sessions, the album floats between ghostly melodies, musique concrète, and analog electronics. Echoing with the artwork by Amsterdam-based artist Louis Reith, whose collages made of found black-and-white images are disrupted by bold geometric constructions, the album is disorienting and fascinating, seated right in between the challenging world of electro-acoustic and a more welcoming beat-oriented territory. Strand is a fascinating body of work, growing over time and revealing more of it's complexity at every listen. Artwork by Louis Reith. Very Important Message for All of Us
Format: Hardcover
Absolutely delightful, oftentimes comical look at what is a very serious situation, collection of memorable metaphors of a memoir. A real page turner. I highly recommend it. There is a subtle recognition of a spiritual nature that we are all born with. Only some of us have the courage to live out the compelling spiritual direction that we come into the world with. Parents beware!
Format: Hardcover
This books is about a trans child running away from home and it basically teaches children how to do it. Nearly a step by step example.
Then at the end of the book the author offers “resources” and advice. The first advice the author gives is “this book itself is the advice” (meaning: run away from home) and then the author lists ways a child can get around their parents. Even telling children that if they have parental control features on their phones preventing them from looking up stuff (assuming “resources” to run away) that they can go to the library, even suggesting they ride their bike to the library so their parents don’t know, to look up “resources” at the library.
My daughter was somewhat disturbed by this book. She said: “I feel like it’s trying to brainwash me into hating you! I had to remind myself of who I am like every chapter. I’m afraid for kids who don’t know better.”

Terrible blaming parent for trying to protect their child. She is committing a great moral evil. Shame on Dial Books for Young Readers for greenlighting a book with such a false, evil, and vindictive premise.
